This Blog is about my attempt to sail from San Francisco, CA to the west coast of Africa. Crazy. Some say I’m Crazy, since I don’t know how to sail (yet) and I’m a person with a physical disability. Yet, I’m determined to prove them wrong. All my life I have wanted to live aboard, and sail, a boat. A few months ago, as my 49th birthday marched closer, I took a long look in the mirror and determined it was time for me to start living my dreams. After searching the Internet for months, I purchase, a 1966 Bristol 24 Corsair. The B24 is somewhat small for the task, but I have faith she can go the distance. I named her Little Precious.
The only way for us to create peace is for us to have a shared understanding of one another. That is why I want to teach art (photography/ theater) and history to children on three continents: North America, South America and Africa. I want to trace the Atlantic Slave trade and have the children of the world link to one another with photos, visual arts and stories.
